Eight orphans escape to a semi-derelict mansion following their liberation from a Nazi concentration camp. But fantasy and reality begin to blur as they eke out an existence fending for themselves against hunger, roaming killer dogs and Nazi survivors.
Making atmospheric use of the forests of Poland, director Adrian Panek's powerfully allegorical thriller is a richly rewarding film.
