Ian McEwan follows 'On Chesil Beach' with another adaptation of one of his own books. It tells the story of a high court judge (an excellent Emma Thompson) whose attempts to balance her chaotic personal life with a case involving a young hospital patient (Fionn Whitehead) who refuses a blood transfusion because he is a Jehovah’s Witness.
Richard Eyre’s heartfelt film explores the grey area in the relationship between personal choice and the law.
★★★★ "Thompson deserves another best actress nomination" - Larushka Ivan-zadeh, Metro
