Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly shine in Jon S. Baird’s loving recreation of the great Hollywood comedy duo’s last days in the spotlight.
It’s 1953. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are legends of yesteryear. However, the still have bills to pay and so embark upon a final tour around the UK. At the same time, Stan is attempting to put together a film deal. Though modest at first, the duo’s performances gradually gain attention. But Ollie’s health threatens to stop the tour. With excellent support performances by Nina Arianda and Shirley Henderson as the pair’s wives, ‘Stan & Ollie’ is a lovingly-crafted homage.
