Margaret Lockwood was at the height of her fame when she played a woman suspected of murder in this adaptation of Vera Capery’s novel.
Bedelia (Margaret Lockwood) and Charlie Carrington (Ian Hunter) live the good life together in Monte Carlo. But an undercover detective starts probing into Bedelia’s past, linking her to the mysterious poisoning of her previous husband. Vera Capery is best known as the source novelist of the Film Noir classic ‘Laura’. This drama is no less taut and profits from a performance by Lockwood at the height of her stardom. If anyone could convey charm, sophistication, menace and malice in one character, it was her.
