Paul Cox's breakthrough film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, is considered a masterpiece of Australian cinema. A quirky but poignant tale about Man of Flowers Charles Bremer, a painter who earned his nickname from his beautifully rendered flower portraits. He uses his artistic skills to channel his repressed sexual yearnings, especially his feelings towards young artists's model Lisa who he pays to come to his house and remove her clothes to the tune of the 'Love Duet' from 'Lucia di Lammermoor.' He then runs across the street and rapturously plays the church organ. He soon becomes entangled in her messy private life. BBFC Certified 18
