Part of Star-Crossed Lovers, this month on Curzon12
Mia Hansen-Løve's ('Things to Come') delicate take on the travails of first love.
Charting a relationship over ten years, the film follows Camille (a superb Lola Créton, 'Bluebeard') as she moves from the ecstasy of youthful passion, through heartbreak to maturity and finding her place in the world. A markedly different, but no less impressive, film to her previous feature, 'Father of My Children', it cements Hansen-Løve's position as one of France's most impressive filmmakers.
★★★★ "Delves into the agony and ecstasy of teenage romance" - Tim Robey, The Telegraph
★★★★ "Carrying echoes of François Truffaut, Eric Rohmer and the underrated Jean Eustache, this is the kind of sentimental education for which French cinema was invented" - David Parkinson, Empire
★★★★ "This is a fluent, confident and deeply felt movie: unmistakably, if not exactly nakedly, autobiographical" - Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
