Mike Leigh’s most underrated film finds two old college friends reunites after 6 years.
Annie is on a train to London's Kings Cross where she will meet old university pal Hannah. She recalls them moving into a grotty student flat together in the mid-eighties. In those days Annie was self-conscious and jumpy. The pair have not seen one another since graduation and now have moderately successful careers. On the surface, they also appear self-assured in their new lives. However, there is still the emotional baggage of their past. Over the course of a weekend, they rekindle their close friendship attempt to exorcise those ghosts.
