Aurora is a detailed study of a man, played by the film's director, witnessing the minutiae of his daily routine, until he commits what appears to be a motiveless murder. It is the second film in a six-cycle series by Cristi Puiu and, like his previous entry The Death of Mr Lazarescu, it is an absurdist drama, peppered with black humour and a keen eye for the foibles of human interaction. Ultimately, it asks us what value we place on our lifestyles and whether the value system we live by is the right one.
